Project Green Teens
Project Green Teens is a kit that provides the essential tools needed for teens in grades 7-12 to safely pick up litter around West Islip and the surrounding areas while earning community service credit. Pick up trash using one of the provided trash bags, take a selfie with it, and email the Teen librarian for 2 hours of community service! Click here to reserve a kit. For W.I. Movie Review
Earn 2 hours of community service by completing a movie review from one of our two streaming services, Hoopla or Kanopy. Watch a film from the 20th Century rated G, PG, or PG-13 and fill out our online form to complete the review. After we examine and approve your review, we will notify you regarding your certificate. You may complete 1 review per month. Please email the Teen librarian for more details. For W.I. Library cardholders only.

Outside Service Opportunities
Sachem Community Youth Services
Tutoring Program: Volunteer tutors get to choose grade level and subject. Orientation and materials provided. Contact Katie at 631-585-1811 if interested.
Volunteer With Cats
PetSmart North & West Babylon Adoption Center need volunteers for morning, afternoon and evening shifts 7 days a week. We ask that volunteers take one weekly 2 hour shift. Applicants must be 18 years of age or 14 years of age accompanied with a parent/guardian 18 years of age or older. If interested, please complete volunteer application at www.tenderlovingcats.org
Long Island Cares
Students have the opportunity to work along side staff and other volunteers to understand and participate in hunger advocacy, as well as, assist visitors in our client choice pantries. If interested please complete the volunteer application at licares.org
Island Harvest
Island Harvest offers volunteer opportunities such as organizing fundraisers and food collections, helping in the offices, and distributing food. If interested, please contact Shannon Karafian at 631-873-4775 or shannon@islandharvest.org.
